Bosses and Comebacks
A real test for each step of the ladder. 90% wins. A "not yet" is real, and comebacks win most.
What it is
When a lesson meets the bar (4 of 5 right on the first try and a real teach-back), a Boss unlocks: 10 problems made by code (8 on this skill, 2 from the one before) plus explaining it out loud. 10 of 11 passes and moves your kid up the ladder.
Why it helps your kid
Results matter and failure is real. After a "not yet", your kid answers "Why did it go wrong?" and "What will you change?", the misses come back as review cards, and after one more lesson the Boss is waiting again. Passing after a fail earns the Comeback mark, the most valuable mark in the school.
Where to find it
The Boss takes the Big Lesson's place on the kid's Today. Results and reflections: Kids → your kid → Bosses. Tonight shows today's.
How to do it
- Don't help during a Boss; it's the real measure.
- After a "not yet", ask about their answer to "What will you change?" That's the lesson.
- Celebrate Comebacks loudest.
What your kid sees
A short calm-down picture, one question at a time, then "Boss beaten!", "COMEBACK!" or "Not yet".
