Set up a kid's iPad

Link code, home-screen install, and what happens if it's lost.

What it is

A kid's iPad is tied to your family with a one-time code. It then opens straight to the kid screens, never to your login.

Why it helps your kid

Kids never get an email or password. The iPad is the key, the PIN is the lock, and you hold both.

Where to find it

Family → Kid iPads.

How to do it

  1. On the iPad, open Safari and go to adelanteacademy.org. Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Open it from the home screen from now on (voice and sounds work best that way).
  2. On your phone: Family → Kid iPads → pick the kid (or Any kid for a shared iPad) → Make code.
  3. On the iPad, enter the 6-character code. It works once and expires in 15 minutes.
  4. If an iPad is lost, change the kid's PIN on their page; the old device is locked out at the next PIN screen.

What your kid sees

A code screen once, then their picker and PIN pad every time.
