What Adelante is (and isn't)
Adelante is your kids' curriculum and teacher. You stay the school: the records are yours and the decisions are yours.
What it is
Luna teaches a full guided day (reading, writing, math, science, social studies and a second language) and keeps every record. Adelante is not a public school, a charter, or an accredited private school (not yet). In Arizona, families who homeschool file an affidavit with their county school superintendent within 30 days, and Arizona doesn't license or accredit private schools. Families using an Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) are private-school students under the ESA law and don't file the homeschool affidavit; Adelante is the online learning program they pay for.
Why it helps your kid
So you know exactly what you're getting, and what the law asks of you.
Where to find it
School records under Records; this page anytime from the guide.
How to do it
- Homeschooling without ESA: file the affidavit with your county within 30 days of starting (for each kid aged 6–16). Adelante covers the five subjects the law lists: reading, grammar, math, social studies and science.
- With ESA: pay for Adelante through ClassWallet with the invoice from Records, and keep the receipts.
- Need a transcript? You issue it as the parent; Adelante gives you the records to back it up.
